Instagram Fonts: Build Your Bio
Start from a template, edit it, pick a font and preview your profile before you paste it into Instagram. The counter tracks the 150-character bio limit.

Make it easy to read
Style one line
Use "First line only" so your headline stands out and the rest stays plain.
Keep details plain
Links, prices and contact info should stay in normal text so everyone can read them.
Pick one font
Mixing several styles in a short bio looks messy and is harder to scan.
Test on your phone
Some older phones show boxes for rare styles. Check your bio before you save it.
Where Instagram fonts work
Works
Your bio, the name field, captions, comments, Story text and DMs. Anywhere you can paste text.
Does not work
Your username. Instagram only accepts plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores there.
Use with care
Hashtags and names people search for. Styled letters may not match a plain-text search, so keep those in plain text.
Instagram fonts: common questions
How do I get fancy fonts on Instagram?
Type your name and bio above, pick a style, then click Copy bio or Copy name and paste it into Instagram. There is nothing to download, because each style is made of Unicode characters instead of a font.
Can I use fancy fonts in my Instagram username?
No. Instagram usernames only accept plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores. You can use fancy text in your bio and in the name field that sits above it.
How many characters can an Instagram bio have?
Instagram limits bios to 150 characters. Fancy characters can use up more of that limit than plain letters, so check the counter in the app and switch to a simpler style if your bio will not save.
Why does my fancy text show boxes on Instagram?
A box means the device has no character for that style. It is most common on older phones. Try a more common style such as Bold or Italic, and test your text before you publish.
Will fancy fonts hurt how people find me on Instagram?
They can. Search may not match plain-text queries to styled letters, and Instagram does not publish how it treats them. Keep your username and any hashtags in plain text, and use fancy text for words people read rather than words people search.
Are fancy fonts accessible on Instagram?
Not always. Screen readers may read styled letters as symbols or skip them. Keep important details like links, prices and contact info in plain text. Our guide on whether fancy fonts are accessible explains more.
